Active holidays in Lithuanian seaside

The Curonian Spit is a 98 km long, thin, curved sand-dune spit that separates the Curonian Lagoon from the Baltic Sea coast.

Its southern portion lies within Kaliningrad Region, Russia and its northern within southwestern Lithuania.

The Curonian Spit is home to the highest moving (drifting) sand dunes in Europe. Their average height is 35 meters, but some attain a height of 60 meters.

One of the most popular resorts in Lithuania, Palanga has been listed in the "Hot List” by the British Sunday Times.

The list completed by Sunday Times Travel reveals Europe’s 20 best beaches for sun and sea for the summer of 2010.

Palanga is portrayed as “a cracking little resort town with a white, sandy beach, pine forests, sand dunes and fizzing night-life” – a perfect description of Lithuania’s most popular holiday destination. The Sunday Times article also mentions the relative low prices in the country. “A terrific amber museum” which houses one of the largest amber pieces in Europe “Sun Stone”, and the Botanical Gardens are highlighted as the most popular cultural activities in the resort.

Hiking tour „At sunrise"

An exclusive tour for those who want to experience the pulse of Curonian Spit‘s nature. You’ll start walking at 5 o'clock, admiring the nature of the peninsula, walk along the Curonian Lagoon shores, observe the waking birds, and step into the forests, where elk, deer and wild boar hide.

Canoe tour „Dead Dunes"

This is a unique water route, because the largest part of it lies by the Naglių nature reserve, where walking is forbidden. In the beginning of the tour we will paddle towards the old Pervalka lighthouse which is situated in the water. After having passed the Žirgų (Horses‘) Cape we will enjoy the scenic landscapes of the Dead Dunes and reach the Naglių Cape where we will have a picnic. Afterwards we will pass the legendary Drimzako Bay and reach the Avies Kulno (Sheep‘s heel) Cape. From here we will be able to see Europe's biggest colony of great cormorants and grey herons: over 3,000 pairs of these birds breed here. The tour will end in Juodkrantė, from where we will return to Nida by bus.

Sailing trip „Wind of the Curonian Lagoon"

Come adrift from active leisure and get submerged into sailing! During this trip you will experience sailing which was one of the main transportation means for the Curonian people. The trip can be organized on an authentic curonian sailing ship called „Kurėnas".
